Gandum Village

Gandum Village is a 4-star rural hotel located in Fazenda do Gandum, in Montemor-o-Novo. The program consisted of the reconstruction, conservation and reinforcement of several pre-existing buildings and the construction of a new building intended for guest accommodation, totaling an GCA of around 2,500m2. Among the traditional buildings to be rehabilitated and reinforced, there were a typical Alentejo farm house and an old tannery house. The new accomodation building, called Cloister for its (initial) U-shape and “ambulatory”, is a single-story construction with resistant rammed earth walls and massive reinforced concrete roof slabs. Gravidade was responsible for the development of Structural and Foundations projects from concept to detailed design and for the coordination of all the engineering disciplines.
