We are an engineering and consultancy company that provides specialized services in structural and foundation engineering. Founded in 2004, it is an independent firm with national and international experience in public and private sectors, delivering complex projects that require a high level of specialization and coordination. We are a highly motivated and talented team of engineers. We have extensive knowledge of several types of materials and structures, and working from a cross-sector, intercultural and collaborative perspective. Our commitment to our clients is to materialize ambitious projects through high quality work, rigor and technical excellence. Our culture is based on the respect for the environment, an in-depth knowledge of material behaviour and innovative thinking in order to achieve sustainable, efficient, and elegant structures. How we work

Each project is unique. We dedicate all our attention to studying its particular requirements and constraints. We propose creative, tailor-made solutions with purpose and added value to our clients. We embrace the architectural challenges and seek to overcome its objectives with technical solutions that are both aesthetic and functional. A good project is a well-coordinated project, which is why we attach great importance to communication between all parties involved, from the client to the architects, including the engineering teams and construction companies. We firmly believe in the digitalization and industrialization of construction and we seek to be drivers of transformation. All of our projects are developed using BIM methodology and tools.

History

2004

Gravidade starts in 2004 from the ambition of four young engineers to concretize a common vision of engineering and business management inspired by previous professional experiences in Portugal and abroad.

2006

In 2006, Filipe Santos and António Correia leave the company to follow the academic path. Marta Gameiro and Rui Mestre continue the project. The national market is the main field of activity, with a large proportion of sanitation works, bridges and public equipment.

2012

In 2012, Gravidade begins its internationalization by carrying out several projects for the Portuguese-speaking markets, PALOPs and Brazil, as well as Spain and Latin America. In 2015, the international component represented almost all of the company's revenue. Residential and service buildings, sports and transport equipment and industrial structures are the core of the activity.

2017

From 2017, the international markets are mainly European: France, Germany, Poland and Norway. Activity in the Portuguese market gradually recovers, with a growing weight in building refurbishment projects.

2018

Since 2018, the company greatly invests in the integration and digitalization of its work methodologies, starting to use Revit Structures as a BIM tool. Team training has been a constant to add competence and maturity in this domain.

In recent years, the growing interest of the partners and the urge to build respecting the environment has resulted in a significant effort to train the team in construction sustainability. Several projects with high environmental performance have been accomplished.
